In the realm of musical expression, jazz possesses a unique ability to transcend time boundaries. It effortlessly weaves together echoes from its storied past with innovative harmonies of the present days. The concert “Echoes of Jazz: Melodic Canvas” aims to unravel the intricate phenomenon by exploring the concept of inter-temporal melodic dialogue.
UiTM Conservatory of Music has started to organize the Echoes of Jazz concert under the Jazz Series once every two (2) years. This Echoes of Jazz Concert Series is poised to elevate the musical aspiration of students, providing a distinctive platform for young jazz enthusiasts to hone their skills and amplify their artistic voices. This concert presents an opportunity for students to step onto a professional stage, bridging the gap between their academic pursuits and real-world performance experiences.
For 2023, Echoes of Jazz brings in Melodic Canvas as its theme in which it will be rediscovering Malaysia’s hidden gems that will highlight the diversity and quality of our homegrown talents. By merging the unique melodies from local music with fresh ideas, this platform will foster an environment of artistic exploration. Through these revitalized arrangements, this concert embraces the dynamic nature of music itself. The fresh arrangements serve as a testament to the adaptability of local music, highlighting its relevance and continued resonance. This Melodic Canvas initiative takes its audience on a captivating through three segments, each a masterpiece in its own way.
Canvas 1 & Canvas 2: Eight (8) Malaysian singers and songs will be featured. Fresh new arrangements will be cooperated into it with talents and creativity of the students, staff and alumni.
Canvas 3: The third group will highlight performances by WVC Malaysia Jazz Ensemble, an established group that has produced five jazz albums highlighting new compositions and reinventing fascinating famous themes from our local landscape.
