Celebrating Visiting Professor Week at College of Built Environment (CBE), UiTM Shah Alam

The College of Built Environment (CBE) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) recently concluded a highly successful Visiting Professor Week, welcoming the esteemed Prof Dr Low Sui Peng (LSP) from the National University of Singapore (NUS). From the 26th to the 29th of February, Prof LSP graced UiTM Shah Alam with his expertise during a comprehensive 5-day program at CBE.

Day 1 (26 Feb 2024): The week kicked off with an official meet-and-greet session with Vice Chancellor of UiTM, Prof Datuk Dr Shahrin bin Sahib@Sahibuddin, alongside Acting Assistant Vice Counselor of CBE (Assoc Prof. Ts. Dr Emma Marinie Ahmad Zawawi), senior top management (Prof, Sr, Dr Zulkiflee Abd Latif, Assoc Prof. Dr Yusfida Ayu Abdullah @ Mohd Zain, Sr, Dr Ahmad Shazrin Mohamed Azmi, and Ts, Dr Julitta Yunus) and senior staff (Prof. Sr Ts Dr Abdul Hadi Nawawi and Prof, Sr, Ts, Dr Zulhabri Ismail). Later in the evening, Prof LSP engaged in a warm session of introductions and discussions with the CBE community. This is followed with discussion with CBE’s School for Postgraduate to further elevate the quality of postgraduate programme’s content, design, delivery and monitoring.

Day 2 (27 Feb 2024): Prof LSP delved into the intricacies of research and publication, sharing insights gleaned from his illustrious career at NUS. The day concluded with a stimulating roundtable discussion with the Built Environment Research Innovation Unit (BERI), focusing on academic writing standards and methodologies.

Day 3 (28 Feb 2024): Discussions continued as Prof LSP met with heads of school to explore avenues for academic innovation in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying. A special lunch session provided an opportunity for informal networking with top CBE management and distinguished guests, followed by a roundtable discussion on the role of KAB Professors in shaping world-class academic and research standards.

Day 4 (29 Feb 2024): The highlight of the week was Prof LSP’s captivating Visiting Professor Talk, where he elucidated NUS’s journey to global prominence and financial independence. Subsequent interactions in the afternoon with postgraduate students allowed for meaningful exchanges of ideas and insights.

Day 5 (1 Mac 2024): Prof LSP’s visit concluded with a tour of the CBE campus at Puncak Alam, culminating in a closing meeting and heartfelt appreciation for his invaluable contributions.

Overall, Prof LSP’s visit left a lasting impact on the academic community at CBE, inspiring all to pursue excellence in the field of Built Environment and strive for world-class status. The week served as a testament to UiTM’s commitment to fostering knowledge exchange and academic discourse.
