Academic Webinar: Plant A Billion Trees

On 11th June 2021 – The Centre of Parks and Amenity Management had successfully organized an online webinar on the topic “PLANT A BILLION TREES’ which was lead and organized by the students from Semester 4 PMG551: Park Recreation Programming supervised by Puan Nur Idzhainee Hashim. The invited speaker for the webinar were the Director of UiTM Green Centre (UGC), Assoc. Prof. Datin Dr. Arnis Asmat, and the Alumni of Parks and Amenity Management currently working at Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Ms Faten Naseha Tuan Hussain sharing knowledges on their expertise to almost 150 guests through Microsoft Teams.

The aim of the program is mainly to cultivate the spirit of love for the environment through the planting of trees. At the same time, fulfilling the 100 million trees campaign 2021 to 2025 launched by the Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin. Before the webinar were held, all 56 students had planted a tree at their location to unite the students from different states with the value of existing collaboration in the program in accordance with the new norms during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program was officiated by the Head of Department, Dr. Zakaria Hashim to support the initiative promoting awareness among the students about the value of green cover areas for well being and quality of life, as well to improve our country’s environment and biodiversity. It is hoped that programs like these will be held again soon from many to benefit the growth of students and educators in the University.
