
KUALA LUMPUR, 7 October 2025 – The Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) achieved a historic milestone for the interior design profession in Malaysia with the official launch of the MIID SEED Program at Hyatt Regency KL Midtown. This initiative aims to strengthen academic and professional pathways for interior design graduates nationwide.
The program was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Professor Dr. Azlinda Azman, Director General of Higher Education, reflecting strong support from the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) for structured career development in creative and design disciplines. The SEED Program was spearheaded by Adjunct Professor IDr Mohamad Faisal bin Ghazali and IDr Norshafina Ibrahim, President of MIID—both distinguished alumni of UiTM’s Interior Architecture program. Senior representatives from Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) were also present, emphasizing the importance of aligning interior design education with recognized professional standards and regulatory frameworks.


A key highlight was the exchange of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and Letters of Agreement (LoA) under the MIID SEED framework. Fourteen institutions offering Interior Architecture programs in Malaysia formalized their participation, including Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kampus Puncak Alam, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Taylor’s University, UCSI University, INTI International College Subang, City University, UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University, SEGi University, TAR UMT, First City University College, Raffles University, Sunway University, and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
UiTM was represented by Prof. Ts Dr. Emma Marinie, Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment, alongside Dr. Tun Mohd Irfan Mohd Suria Affandi, Ts IDr Norzaihan Mad Zin, and Ts IDr Norji Nasir.
Through this collaboration, 14 interior design programs nationwide will work under a unified framework to enhance academic rigor and professional readiness. The MIID SEED Program underscores a national commitment to producing graduates who are competitive, industry-ready, and aligned with global standards in interior design practice.
