SERI ISKANDAR, Perak, January 14, 2025 – A collaborative online session titled “Transforming Knowledge Via Collaborative Teaching: Building Technology III (DBT214)—Building Defects in Construction” was held via Google Meet, engaging 101 Semester 3 students from groups CFAP126 3A, 3B, 3C, and 3D. The two-hour session, from 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM, provided valuable insights into building defects and their prevention.
The session featured Dr. Mohd Asrul Hassin, a senior lecturer from the Department of Building Survey, College of Built Environment, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Seri Iskandar, Perak, as guest lecturer. Dr. Asrul discussed various types of building defects, including structural problems, material deterioration, and issues arising from poor construction practices. He also highlighted preventive strategies such as using high-quality materials, proper design, skilled labor, and regular maintenance.
The interactive session fostered critical thinking among students regarding their roles in ensuring quality construction. A Q&A segment allowed students to engage further with Dr. Asrul, enhancing their understanding of real-world construction challenges. The session successfully bridged academic knowledge with industry practices, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and professional growth in the construction field.
