PENANG, 5th October 2023 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pulau Pinang Branch recently hosted the enlightening “Essentials of Empirical Research Writing” workshop on October 5, 2023. The workshop was organized jointly by the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management and the Academic Affairs Division, UiTM Pulau Pinang Branch. Professor Dr. Noel Scott from the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia, was delighted to be the esteemed guest speaker for the workshop. The 7-hour workshop attracted a diverse group of 30 enthusiastic participants, including undergraduate students and lecturers. Held at the state-of-the-art Big Data Lab on the UiTM Pulau Pinang Branch campus, the workshop has provided all participants with a transformative learning experience.
With the distinguished Professor Dr. Noel Scott leading the workshop, participants had a rare chance to learn in-depth about the principles of producing empirical research. It gave the participants a thorough understanding of all the critical research concepts, including data collection, analysis, and design. Essential items on the program were formulating research questions, carrying out efficient literature reviews, becoming proficient in various research techniques, and addressing crucial ethical issues. Other key course objectives were enhancing academic writing abilities and enabling participants to produce research papers conveying provocative thoughts and ideas. Participants’ confidence in their ability to carry out empirical research, produce research publications, and participate in fruitful academic collaborations was bolstered by the workshop’s conclusion, which helped them improve as researchers.
