MSPP x UiTM Refresher Course 2025: Strengthening Foundations in Pharmacology and Physiology

Sungai Buloh, 9 July 2025 — The Malaysia Society of Pharmacology and Physiology (MSPP), in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), proudly concluded the MSPP Refresher Course 2025 on Wednesday, 9 July 2025. Held at UiTM Sungai Buloh Campus, the half-day event was designed to reinforce foundational principles in pharmacology and physiology for academics and researchers across Malaysia and beyond.

The course commenced with an opening address from Associate Professor Ts Dr Azlini Ismail, Vice President of MSPP, who emphasized the importance of sustained scholarly exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration within the biomedical sciences sector.

Under the chairmanship of Associate Professor Dr Nurul Alimah Abdul Nasir, the program was organized with the support of the Department of Pharmacology, comprising a dedicated team of lecturers including Dr Norhafiza Razali, Dr Norasikin Ab Azis, Dr Noor Fahitah Abu Hanipah, and Dr Muhammad Huzaimi Haron.

The highlight of the event featured two esteemed speakers:

  • Professor Dr Cheng Hwee Ming, Professor of Physiology from the University of Malaya, delivered an insightful lecture on the Cardiac Cycle, captivating the audience with his dynamic and engaging approach.
  • Professor Dr Nafeeza Mohd Ismail, Professor of Pharmacology from UiTM, presented a detailed session on Antiarrhythmic Drugs, seamlessly integrating clinical application with pharmacological theory.

A total of 37 participants, including physiologists, pharmacologists, postgraduate students, and emerging scholars, attended the course representing institutions from both Malaysia and abroad. The program served not only as an academic refresher but also as a strategic platform for networking, mentorship, and future research collaborations.

This initiative marks another successful milestone in MSPP and UiTM’s shared mission to promote academic excellence and scientific innovation, while continuing to nurture Malaysia’s biomedical education landscape through inclusive and high-impact programming.
