Writing to Defend: Research Talk for Faculty of Education’s Postgraduate Students Infused Comprehensive Writing Guide

The Postgraduate Department, Faculty of Education, organized a webinar session on Preparing Your Proposal for the Defence of Research Proposal. This program was successfully conducted via online video conference on Google Meet for Ph.D. students and supervisors as well. This important webinar, presented by the Faculty of Education’s very own Prof. Dr. Chan Yuen Fook, a lecturer with immense experience within the field of research on education.

The session lasted for almost 2 hours, as the enthusiastic participants were treated to fascinating discussions on research. The webinar focuses on everything related to research within Ph.D. level, including the common pitfalls that researchers fail to acknowledge when doing their research.

The honored speaker, Prof. Dr. Chan outlined an essential guide on writing the details in our proposals, from balancing between problem statements and objectives in the first chapter, to examining our references in the literature review. Prof. Dr. Chan did not only provide guidance on just writing, he also included pragmatic viewpoints and advice on completing research, to help put common misconceptions and unrealistic expectations to rest. Among the participants in the webinar were aspiring Ph.D. students and lecturers looking to sharpen their research acumen.

At the end of the online discussion, participants’ concerns were voiced towards the speaker in a Q&A session, to which he respectfully responded with fervent dedication.
