A networking between UiTM and HPMT Industries Sdn. Bhd. had been established since February 2015. An official commitment or Memorundum of Understanding had been signed on 15 December 2015 during the Research Innovation Symposium Exposition (RISE 2015) event organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering UiTM Shah Alam and supported by the Ministry of Education.
The main objective of the MoU is to bridge in-house trainings for students’ knowledge-skills enhancement and industrial placement for Mechanical Engineering graduates. In sustaining the MoU effectiveness, the follow up visits between both parties are important. The output of the meeting on 7 March 2016 had agreed to initially embark on students internship placement at HPMT.
Amongst the long term initiatives are final year project for undergraduate students, postgraduate research and possibility of project or research grants application. It is a challenge for academicians to actively participate in the collaboration initiatives. The collaborated projects will benefit both UiTM and HPMT in sharing and transfering research, academic and practical knowledge, and supporting the community as a whole. For the company it is a part of their corporate social responsibilty. Sustaining the MoU with the industries helps to secure some job placement for graduate employability; and long term and close relationship between both parties will develop good employer reputation and UiTM image.
