SUNGAI BULOH, 12th October 2023 – Fourteen final-year dental students from the University of Puthisastra, Cambodia, recently culminated their three-day clinical attachment at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), marking yet another milestone in the realm of international dental education collaboration.
The program was inaugurated with a short briefing on the first day by Assoc. Prof. Dr Mas Suryalis Ahmad, Deputy Dean of Students Affairs and Alumni. Also in attendance were Dr Fara Azwin Adam, Head of the International Unit and QS Ranking; Dr Zatilfarihiah Rasdi, Head of Corporate Communication; and Dr Mohd Amir Mukhsin Zurin Adnan, the appointed Liaison for the visiting delegates. Together, they provided the students with an overview of the institution and detailed insights into their three-day schedule of the attachment program.
The visiting students were assigned to a variety of clinics within the faculty. This distribution spanned final-year undergraduate clinics, where patient care is conducted under the guidance of experienced faculty members. In addition, the delegates had the privilege of engaging with several postgraduate clinics, delving deep into specialized areas of dentistry, including Orthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry, Special Need Dentistry, Periodontics and Prosthodontics.
This collaboration between two prominent institutions stands as a testament to the significance of international exposure in dental academia. Such experiences not only furnish students with new skills and knowledge but also champion the cause of sharing insights and best practices, thus furthering the cause of dental academia and its clinical applications.
As the curtain falls on this successful attachment program, the delegates from the University of Puthisastra return enriched, both academically and in terms of the global bonds they have forged.
