UiTM Sarawak holds the 2nd International Conference on Innovative Sciences and Technologies for Research and Education (InnoSTRE 2022)

Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak branch in collaboration with Anhui Medical University, China and Universitas Jambi (UNJA), Indonesia have successfully organized the 2nd International Conference on Innovative Sciences and Technologies for Research and Education (InnoSTRE 2022) on October, 25-27, 2022. This hybrid conference was also supported by the Sarawak Government, Business Events Sarawak, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) as well as the Asian-China Education & Culture (ACEC) Association.
Anchored on the theme “Probing the Societal Challenges through a Unified, Interdisciplinary Platform”, this event attracted about 250 participants, 140 articles, 60 international articles from the United Kingdom, Australia, China, Macau China, Hong Kong China, Brunei, Indonesia and Cambodia.

Six hybrid parallel sessions were divided into four conference tracks, namely Track A – Natural Science, Track B – Engineering and Technology, Track C – Humanities and Social Science, and Track D – Education Innovation.
The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Premier of Sarawak, The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, with welcoming remarks by YBhg. Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor  Vice Chancellor, Universiti Teknologi MARA. Four keynote lectures from distinguished professors were highlighted in this event. Professor Dr. Liang Chaozhao lectured on the first keynote address entitled “Shaping of Futures in Higher Education through High Quality International Collaboration”, while the second keynote address was by Dr. Amin Malik Shah bin Abdul Majid who focused on “Polymolecular Botanical Medicine, A New Class of Therapeutic Agent that Levels the Playing Field of Drug Discovery and Development”. Professor Dr. David Parera delivered the third keynote address on “Virus surveillance in Sarawak, Borneo”, whereas Professor Dr. Firdaus Abdullah addressed the fourth keynote on “Fundamental Transformation of Higher Education Post-Pandemic: Is it happening?”

Chair of the conference, Professor Dr. Firdaus Abdullah who is also the Dean of Faculty of Business and Management (FBM), UiTM offered closing remarks at the closing ceremony. He applauded for all the support and commitment from all those involved in realizing the conference. The closing remarks were further perfected by Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development I (Education and Innovation), The Honourable Datuk Dr. Annuar Rapaee.

It was such an honour for the InnoSTRE 2022 conference to have received support from academic partners, including Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), Indonesia, Islamic University of Riau (UIR), Indonesia, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), Thailand, and Teacher Education Institute of Malaysia, Batu Lintang (IPGKBL).
