SHAH ALAM, June 12, 2024 – The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2024 measures institutions’ success in achieving the United Nations’ 17 SDGs based on their impact on communities and society. UiTM received an overall score of 85.6 this year, keeping its standing of 101-200 from the previous year. UiTM is one of 1,963 universities ranked, increasing by 372 from the prior year.
Out of the eight SDGs this year, Gender Equality (SDG 5) became UiTM’s best-scored SDG as it attained the rank of 46. This puts UiTM among the Top 50 universities worldwide for this SDG. This was followed by SDG 1 – No Poverty and SDG 17 – Partnership for the Goals, where UiTM ranks in the top 200 worldwide. UiTM also ranks among the Top 300 for three SDGs: SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy, and SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
The Vice-Chancellor of UiTM, Professor Datuk Dr Shahrin bin Sahib, states, “This is the fourth year that UiTM has maintained its position among the Top 200 globally for sustainable development. As such, UiTM intends to maintain its commitment to excellence through impactful education and research, with sustainability remaining a significant focus in our next UiTM2030 strategic plan.”
