5 JUNE 2024 – The QS World University Rankings (WUR) 2025 edition prioritises sustainability and employability in accordance with the global agenda of pursuing sustainable development and economic growth. UiTM earned the 587th position out of 1503 institutions assessed this year, securing its position in the top 39% of universities worldwide. A substantial increase of 2,700 new universities evaluated globally was observed in the QS WUR 2025, totalling 5,663 institutions.
The QS WUR is measured using nine indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, international research network, faculty-student ratio, sustainability, citations per faculty, employment outcomes, and international students and faculty. UiTM’s academic reputation improved for the fifth consecutive year, becoming the university’s strongest indicator this year. The university advanced 15 places to 288, rising from 303 the previous year. Furthermore, UiTM occupies the 234th position in the global employer reputation rankings.
UiTM’s international research network indicator score increased from 24.3 last year to 68.6 this year. This represents the highest result achieved by UiTM for the QS WUR 2025 among all indicators. On a global scale, UiTM is ranked 503 in its international research network, indicating a substantial improvement in academic research.
UiTM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Shahrin bin Sahib, stated, “We have been diligently working to enhance UiTM’s academic reputation since the inception of our UiTM2025 agenda in 2021. This achievement has been reflected in the QS WUR 2025 for the fifth consecutive year. This year, UiTM is embarking on a journey to create its new UiTM2030 strategic plan. We anticipate that our endeavours will continue to be positively recognised internationally as we pursue our vision for the future, emphasising the internalisation of values and the fulfilment of our mission to produce professional Bumiputera graduates who are both competitive and of high quality.”
