UiTM Broadens Collaborative Efforts In Transportation, Supply Chain, And Logistics Initiatives Through 4 MOAs With Indonesia Polytechnics

 

INDONESIA, AUGUST 17th 2022 – Universiti Teknologi MARA and four polytechnic institutes under the Human Resources Development Agency of Transportation (HRDAT), Ministry of Transport, Indonesia, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in Politeknik Transportasi Darat, Bekasi, Jakarta on August 2, 2022. The MOA is to strengthen their collaboration for the next two (2) years in terms of academic collaboration. The four institutes are Politeknik Transportasi Darat Bekasi, Politeknik Transportasi Darat Bali, Politeknik Keselamatan Transportasi Jalan Tegal, and Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran, Jakarta.

Dr. Ir. Djoko Sasono witnessed the signing made by Mr. Ahmad Yani, the Director of Politeknik Transportasi Darat Indonesia, Dr. Efendhi Prih Raharjo, the Director of Politeknik Transportasi Darat Bali, Dr. Siti Maimunah, the Director of Politeknik Keselamatan Transportasi Jalan, and Capt. Sudiono, the Principal of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran.

UiTM was represented by Prof. Dato’ Ir. Ts. Dr. Hj. Mohd. Fozi Ali, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Infrastructure), as he patroned the signing event. Mohd Nasir Taib, the Director of the Malaysia Institute of Transport (MITRANS), UiTM Shah Alam, signed as witness to all of the MOAs. Datuk Lokman Jamaan, Director of Enforcement of the Road Transport Department (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan), Malaysia,  who also attended the signing ceremony and witnessed the memorable event.

This Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) formalised the collaboration between UiTM and the four institutes that has been initiated by MITRANS through an MOU with HRDAT in 2019. Moving forward from that, the UiTM and four polytechnics under the MOT Indonesia plan to carry out their active roles in conducting research and educational initiatives that relate to transport, supply chain, and logistics. This two-year collaboration is intended to have a positive influence on the UiTM community and the institutes. 

At present, various programmes have been planned as part of the flagship programs, including a series of workshops, educational talks and inbound and outbound engagement for the staff and students from both parties. Both parties are hopeful that further mutually benefitting collaborations will occur and they look forward to a strong and fruitful partnership for the greater. This effort is to further expand our partnership and cooperation between UiTM and educational institutions under the MOT Indonesia in research, publication, and other academic activities. Factually, this cooperation, between UiTM and these four (4) Polytechnics in Indonesia is an indication that both institutions are moving forward in the pursuit of international achievement.

Prof. Dato’ Ir. Ts. Dr. Hj. Mohd. Fozi Ali in his speech noted that UiTM in its mission to achieve its goal of becoming a globally renowned university believe that this collaboration will support the main pillars of quality education, global excellence, and value-based performance. He said that the international collaboration, especially with these four (4) Polytechnics, will make UiTM to be able to realise the vision of the university. He also added that , entities of excellence, like MITRANS, which is a service based centre of excellence in UiTM will be able to coordinate expertise in transport, logistics, and supply chain, and it is believed to have an impact on this goal.
