UiTM and SAS Institute Signs MoU to Award Digital Badge to Certify Talent Analytics in UiTM Students

Shah Alam, 16 March 2023 – The 30 years of institutional relationship between Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and SAS Institute Incorporation (SAS) marks a new milestone with the signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions. Professor Ts. Dr. Haryani Haron, Assistant Vice Chancellor of College of Computing, Informatics and Media (KPPIM), UiTM, on behalf of The Honourable Prof. Datuk Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor, Vice Chancellor of UiTM; and Mr. Lee Mun Loong, Head of SAS Education, on behalf of SAS, have pledged to award UiTM students with a digital badge of SAS Academic Specialization.

The digital badge will certify students’ knowledge, ability and talent in applying statistics and technology to make high-quality data-driven decisions. Talent analytics is highly sought globally as it presents a value added acumen for organisations in making strategic business decisions. UiTM graduates with the digital badge will not only be seen as having a competitive advantage in the job market, but will also solidify employers’ confidence in their talent. Ultimately, this collaboration aims to excel UiTM graduates’ employability to meet the increasing national demand for data analytics and data scientists. The digital badge will be awarded to UiTM students who have completed three comprehensive data driven statistical courses at UiTM, namely SAS programming, data mining, and applied regression analysis.

The exchange of the MoU today was witnessed by, Dr. Muhamad Khairulnizam Zaini, Dean of Industry, Community & Alumni Network, Professor Ts. Dr. Mohamad Noorman Masrek, Dean of Research & Innovation, and Dr. Shazleen Mohamed, Acting Dean of Academic & International of KPPIM, UiTM; as well as Mr. Khor Swee Kweng, Principal Customer Training Advisor of SAS Education. Also present at the ceremony were lecturers from the Centre of Statistics and Decision Science Studies, School of Mathematical Sciences, KPPIM, UiTM and representatives from SAS Education
