On November 2nd, 2019, the Postgraduate Department and the Asian Centre for Research on University Learning and Teaching (ACRULeT), Faculty of Education, had co-organized a Get-Together Progress Chat opened to all postgraduate students at the Faculty of Education. The Progress Chat aimed to provide opportunities for postgraduate students to mingle and talk about their research progress in an informal ambiance. 23 postgraduate students turned up for the half-day event.
The program kick-started with Research Talk on Assumptions of Quantitative vs. Qualitative Research Design by Dr. Sharifah Muzlia Syed Mustafa, the Program Coordinator for master and doctoral degree by research at the Faculty of Education.
The talk challenged students’ conceptions of research designs and helped them to better articulate their own research design. This was then followed by small group sharing session facilitated by Dr. Sharifah Muzlia Syed Mustafa as well as Datin Dr. Nazeera Bazari and Dr. Siti Maftuhah Damio of the Postgraduate Department.
The program resulted in the initiation of Postgraduate Student Group, established as a means for members to support each other – providing for a meaningful and enriching learning experience. More importantly, the group served as a platform for students to share information and resources as well as plan for future postgraduate activities.
