JENGKA, 13 July 2024 — University Social Responsibility programme (USR) has been a great part of any tertiary education. UiTM Pahang, together with its strategic partner Universitas Negeri Malang (UNM) is thus not excluded from this giving culture when both institutions collaborated in a nature-based USR programme, called “Love the Trees, Save the Forest 2024”. Led by Dr. Badli Esham Ahmad, this event was specially outlined for the 44 students from Universitas Negeri Malang who were in UiTM Jengka Campus for their Program Asistensi Mengajar Internasional (AMI) Malaysia. Some lecturers and staff from the Academy of Language Studies and the Faculty of Wood Industry also participated in this nature-themed activity.
The event commenced with some briefing and stretching led by Mr. Nik Hazlan Nik Hashim from the Faculty of Wood Industry. It was all serotonin-laden as participants were out in the sun, jungle trekking along the trails to the UiTM Pahang’s educational forest named Kem Sri Gading. Participants were given briefing at 5 different stops where they were introduced to various trees like the Keruing Gombang, Kembang Semangkuk and Mempelas trees. They also did plogging, note-taking and video-recording activities as part of the jungle trip through this 100-hectare forest.
The 4-hour nature-based activity ended with the participants leaving the educational forest via a second trail, exposing them to another beautiful side of Kem Sri Gading. Thank you to all students from the Universitas Negeri Malang for basking in nature with us! Thank you to all the UiTM Pahang staff for their relentless efforts in making the programme a success. Congratulations to the UiTM Pahang Academy of Language Studies for the great nature excursion!
