PUNCAK ALAM, 6th September 2023 – Delegations from the National University of Singapore (NUS) made a memorable visit to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) to commemorate and exchange a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance collaborations as part of a mutual friendship and cooperation between these two institutions. This MoU ceremony was conducted as part of UiTM’s first International Conference on Clinical Ethics 2023. This ceremony, held in Hospital Al Sultan Abdullah UiTM Puncak Alam was initiated by the Department of Medical Ethics and Law, Faculty of Medicine, UiTM.
UiTM was represented by Associate Professor Dr. Fazah Akhtar Hanapiah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UiTM. The NUS team was led by Professor Dr. Julian Savulescu, Director of the Centre for Biomedical Ethics in NUS.
Apart from the academic collaborations, the MoU has been signed to initiate an emphasis on Medical Ethics and Law as UiTM is the first and only medical faculty in the country to have an established curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate level conducted by the Department of Medical Ethics and Law. It is understood that our future doctors will be imbued with proper knowledge of medical ethics and will possess professionalism attitudes once they have embarked in the world of clinical practice.
The strategic partnership hopefully would bring a success in developing a stronger relationships and friendships between UiTM and NUS, driving the future of Medical Ethics and Law in Malaysia.
