Taklimat Penarafan TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION (THE) University Impact Ranking 2021 – another event organised by the Achievement and Ranking Unit, InQKA had an overwhelming turnout of more than 100 participants. The event which was from 2.30 pm to 5 pm was attended by Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors, Assistant Vice Chancellor of InQKA, Deputy Rectors, Deans, Deputy Deans and most importantly Ranking Champions (RC) from faculties as well as from campuses.
The main aim of the session was firstly to enlighten all participants about the uniqueness of Times Higher Education (THE) Ranking and secondly to introduce the newly formed COE of UiTM – Institute for Biodiversity & Sustainable Development (IBSD).
The session began with an opening speech by the Assistant Vice Chancellor of InQKA, Professor Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor, who briefly spoke on THE ranking and the initiatives needed towards more effective and efficient data collection for THE ranking which is centred around the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In the Vice Chancellor’s speech, Emeritus Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Mohd Azraai Kassim highlighted on the aspirations of UiTM towards achieving a globally renowned university status and the importance of effectively capturing and collecting the THE data from all activities carried out throughout the UiTM system.
The director of the newly formed Centre of Excellence (COE) – Institute for Biodiversity & Sustainable Development (IBSD), Prof. Sr. Dr. Zulkiflee Abd Latif introduced the institute and deliberated on the 17 SDGs and some strategies how RCs can assist in mapping the activities with the SDGS.
The next session was by the Head of Achievement and Ranking Unit, InQKA, Ir. Dr. Amirul Abd Rashid who gave an update on the current status of the THE ranking before enlightening on the methodology used to capture data according to the 17 SDGs.
In her closing speech, Prof. Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor reiterated the importance of all faculties, branch campuses and all PTJs in the UiTM system in effectively providing the THE data. She also highlighted the strategy of matching all activities conducted with the 17 SDGs as a way forward towards achieving higher ranking status for the forthcoming year.
The Coordinator of Achievement and Ranking Unit, InQKA, Sr. Dr. Norazian Mohamad Yusuwan, the MC for the day also thanked all faculties and RCs who gave their cooperation in providing the data for the last THE submission and also for their continuous support in data submission whenever requested.
