KLANG, 21 December 2024 – The College of Computing, Informatics, and Mathematics (KPPIM) of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam recently conducted a “Digital Literacy: Smart Business Programme” in Kampung Budiman, Meru, Klang, to empower local entrepreneurs in the growing digital marketplace. The program, part of the Service Learning Malaysia – University for Society (SULAM) initiative, provided hands-on training to Kampung Budiman residents on utilizing e-commerce platforms.
The programme focused on building confidence and technological skills among local entrepreneurs. Interactive modules covered setting up online businesses, managing Shopee orders, hosting Shopee Live sessions, and digital advertising. Participants were introduced to various e-commerce tools including Shopee, WhatsApp Business, TikTok Shop, Facebook, and Google Sites.
Participants were divided into beginner and intermediate groups based on their existing e-commerce skills. Muhammad Adzmin bin Ahmad Daniel instructed the beginners, while Nur Izzany binti Mohd Hasriry, an experienced Shopee Live host, mentored the intermediate group. KPPIM students and facilitators provided hands-on assistance, including installing relevant applications on participants’ devices.
The programme received positive feedback. En. Mohd Sharul Azwan commented on gaining new knowledge about using Shopee for business, while Pn. Syaza Errina highlighted learning how to expand her business reach using Google Sites.
The event was officiated by Assoc. Prof. Ts Dr. Atiqah Sia Abdullah, Dean of Industrial, Community, and Alumni Networks, KPPIM, and attended by Tuan Hassan bin Idris (Village Chief for Bukit Raja District), Encik Imran bin Kairon (Kampung Budiman Village Head), Puan Mazni Jumali (Deputy Head of Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia), and Dr. Azhar Abd Aziz (SULAM Digital Literacy Program Coordinator).
The SULAM 2024 initiative effectively assisted local entrepreneurs in leveraging e-commerce, enhancing their competitiveness, and contributing to the community’s digital transformation. This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and supports the government’s vision of fostering a Masyarakat Madani.
