KUALA LUMPUR, 8th AUGUST 2024 – In an era marked by escalating cyber threats, the necessity for enhanced cyber security education is more critical than ever. Addressing this need, the College of Computing, Informatics and Mathematic of UiTM, Malaysian Armed Forces’ Defense Cyber and Electromagnetic Division (BSEP), and TM One have jointly presented Siber Siaga 2024 X iHack 2024. This significant event took place from 6th to 8th of August 2024 at the KLCC Convention Center, Kuala Lumpur.
The event commenced with a Flag-off ceremony on 6th of August 2024 at 10:00 AM, officiated by Prof. Ts. Dr. Haryani Haron, Assistant Vice Chancellor of KPPIM, UiTM. In her opening speech, Prof. Dr. Haryani emphasized the importance of a layered defense strategy to safeguard critical data and information. This strategy, known as Defense in Depth (DiD), involves an integrated approach combining processes, technology, and personnel. Her address highlighted the relevance of such collaborations, especially given the rising statistics of cybercrime that exploit vulnerabilities in networks and cloud data.
The closing ceremony on 8th of August 2024 featured a prize-giving session for the iHack 2024 winners, conducted by Mr. Ma. Sivanesan s/o Marimuthu @ Muthiah, Deputy Secretary-General (Digital Development) of the Digital Ministry.

In addition, the event garnered recognition from the Malaysia Books of Record as the Most Teams in a Hackathon Competition, with a remarkable 103 group participants. This accolade was presented to Rear Admiral Dato’ Pahlawan Mohd Fadzli Kamal bin Mohd Mohaldin, Director General of the Cyber Electromagnetic Division of the Malaysian Armed Forces Headquarters.
The collaboration between major industry players such as TM, BSEP, MDEC, and Prisma Khas underscores the commitment to advancing cyber security. This initiative not only provided a platform for students from public and private higher education institutions in Malaysia to showcase their skills but also aimed to discover and nurture new talent in the field of cyber security.
