Research Mobility Program at Attarat Oil Shale Fired Power Plant (APCO), Jordan

JORDAN 8 August 2024 – Assoc. Prof. Ts. Ir. Dr. Mohd Najib Bin Mohd Hussain from the Electrical Engineering Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Pulau Pinang Kampus Permatang Pauh, participated in the prestigious Research Mobility Program at the Attarat Oil Shale Fired Power Plant (APCO), Amman, Jordan, from 28 th July to 8 th August 2024. This initiative was held in collaboration with Education Malaysia Jordan (EMJ) and aimed to strengthen ties between academia and industry, fostering international research collaboration and promoting the exchange of knowledge. The APCO plant, with a generation capacity of 2 x 235 MW, is a key player in Jordan oil shale-based energy sector.

The EMJ-APCO Research Mobility Program facilitated academic and research partnerships between Malaysia and Jordan. It provided a platform for researchers to engage in short-term projects, exchange expertise, and establish professional networks with Jordanian counterparts. The program, known for its competitive selection process, offered participants opportunities to participate in fieldwork, seminars, and collaborative research activities over a two-week period.

This international collaboration signifies a major achievement in advancing academia-industry collaborations for knowledge transfer and research excellence between Malaysia and Jordan. UiTM active participation underscores its commitment to addressing global research challenges, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
