Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management, UiTM Kampus Puncak Alam – Student of Master in Tourism Management in Semester 1, 2, and 3 who take subject Event Marketing & Sponsorship (HTT753) and Event Planning & Analysis (HTT751) had successfully organized a live forum event, Relaunching Tourism Post COVID-19 (RTPC) virtually on Zoom platform and Facebook Live on 18th January 2022.
The theme for RTPC was ‘Reset. Rebuild. Reignite’ discussed strategies on how to kick start during a pandemic since the tourism industry is one of the most affected industries of this COVID-19 pandemic globally. The forum started with the opening speech from Deputy Dean Research & Industry Linkages, Assoc. Professor Dr. Mohd Hafiz Mohd Hanafiah and continue with the opinion from panels in dealing with pandemic COVID-19 from their expertise field in the tourism sector. The first round was discussed on ‘Post COVID Business Planning & Strategies and The Impact on Langkawi Travel Bubble’ by the first panel who is ADJ. Prof Anthony Wong Kim Hooi who is a senior Group Managing Director Asian Overland Services Tours & Travel and Cottage by the Sea of Frangipani Hotels & Resorts, Langkawi and also known as Sustainability and Ecotourism Expert.
The next round discussing on ‘Strategies to Restart Malaysia’s Tourism Sector amid COVID-19’ and ‘Youth Employment Opportunities in Post COVID-19’. The panels are Head of Unit, COVID-19 Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC), Mr. Zakaria Bin Mohd Nani, and Mr. Saiful Nang who is an optimistic social media influencer and Chief of Executive of Rarecation Travel Sdn Bhd.
A total of 270 from the students, industry players, academic-practitioner and the public were involved in the success of the RTPC Live Forum Session. The live forum was also attended by lecturers from the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management, Dr. Asmalina Binti Mohd Anuar and Datin Dr. Arni binti Abdul Gani as program advisors.
