Prof. Dr. Faizah Abd. Majid, a professor of adult education at the Faculty of Education, UiTM Puncak Alam Campus, has recently being invited as a keynote speaker for the International English Language Teachers and Lecturers (iNELTAL) Conference 2019. iNELTAL was organized by the Faculty of Letters, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Indonesia, held from October 12-13, 2019.
In line with the theme of the conference ‘The Treasure of the English Classrooms: Exploring, Reflecting and Sharing’, Prof. Dr. Faizah’s speech centers on The Scholarships of Teaching and Learning (SoTL): ESL Instructors as the Catalyst for the 21st Century Human Talent Development.
Establishing the link between ESL instructors and 21st century pedagogical approaches, Prof. Dr. Faizah focused on four main aspects: first, understanding the demands of the 21st century; second, exploring the SoTL of ESL instructors; third, recognizing ESL instructors as the catalyst of human talents; and finally, mapping SoTL and ESL instructors’ approaches to 21st century skills.
Prof. Dr. Faizah has published extensively in the area of adult education, professional development as well as Teaching English as Second Language (TESL). In addition to her active engagements in research at national and international levels; Prof. Dr. Faizah has been appointed as the international academic program assessor for the National Agency of Academic Accreditation, Ministry of Education Timor-Leste. She is also the proud recipient of the Distinguished Scientist in Adult Education (Humanities and Social Sciences) Award at the recently held 5th Venus International Research Awards (VIRA) 2019.
