The renovation that took nearly 2 years starting from the end of 2017 until early 2019 made the new facelift at PTAR’s café worth the waiting. Students seem to utilize it not only as a place for socializing, it also as a hub for numerous delicious homecooked meals. The majority of the food served is being prepared by mostly by the PTAR’s staff. Furthermore, the speedy wi-fi in the library came with a very pleasant space had offered another type of de-stress space after a hard day in class.
The cafe named the Biz Corner had been designed with a majority of a four-seater dining area that encourages discussion and socializing space. If an individual wants to enjoy beautiful scenery and atmosphere, one can enjoy the bar counter area that accommodates individuals who need to be focused on their task. The bar counter also comes with natural lighting through the fixed window which could also increase productivity and efficiency. Another interesting space that came with this café is the semi-privacy discussion area designed especially for the MASMED unit. The space is to accommodate business discussions and also to display students’ artwork on the open shelves provided. Apart from that, the Biz Corner also came with a food display rack area and a mini pantry area.
The food display rack area and the mini pantry area usually will be very busy especially early in the morning. These students normally are very excited to grab the food whilst catching up with friends in the café. They can heat their drinks and food at the mini pantry that is provided with a microwave and water dispenser. It seems that students had been going nonstop into the café all day long. Due to the overwhelming support of the Biz Cafe, it will produce many recyclable food and drink containers. In supporting the effort of the Green Campus, PTAR also provided the café with the 3R thrash bin.
The renovation was led by the in-house designer of UiTM SI, Ts Dr Azizah Md Ajis together with their teammates, Puan Jazmin Zulkifli, Pn Norfazillah Ahmad, and Puan Norhayati Kassim from the Department of Interior Architecture of JABT. Their renovation phase for the office area will resume later in the future.
Puan Siti Basriyah, the Head of PTAR, was very happy with the outcome and believes that one of the attractions for the students to stop by the Biz café is not only because of the services provided but also due to the conducive space that PTAR had offered.
With exciting facilities provided for the students, PTAR hopes that students will spend more time at the library not only to borrow books but also to build beautiful memories throughout their study sessions at Perak, and being at PTAR is one of them.
