Penang International Invention, Innovation and Design (PIID 2021) was held virtually on 10th -11th March 2021 in line with the requirements of social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This revolutionary transformation is linked with the PIID 2021 theme of “Engaging and Empowering Mankind towards Scientific Revolution”. This program was co-organised by Research Management Unit and Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences Universiti Teknologi MARA, Cawangan Pulau Pinang with strategic partners and collaborators; (Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Pulau Pinang, Pak Mat Western Sdn Bhd., Institut Kimia Malaysia NB and Malaysia Green Building Council Northern Chapter).

This competition has tremendously received 392 participants (locally and internationally), in four different categories, which include Category A that is specifically for school students, Category B for university students, Category C for academicians, and Category D for industry players. All categories were judged by 3 professional judges, combination of academicians and industry players from various sectors.

The Penang International Invention, Innovation and Design (PIID 2021) Competition represents the efforts of all interested parties. This program were led by Dr Sharifah Adilah and well-experienced judges, led by Dr Nor Azlan Othman and PIID2021 supportive crew members who have been working tirelessly to ensure the smoothness of this competition.

To all PIID2021 participants, judges and organising committees, hopefully that PIID 2021 can be continuously implemented so that the goals can be achieved successfully and has left a memorable impression. Congratulations to all winners.
