A Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC) has been signed between the Faculty of Business and Management (FBM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and INCEIF University, the Global University of Islamic Finance in Malaysia. This collaboration ceremony was held on 16 November 2022 at Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Razak (PTAR), UiTM Kampus Puncak Alam.

It was honored to have Professor Dr. Mohamad Hariri Hj Abdullah, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, ICAN, represented UiTM, meanwhile Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohd Azmi Omar, President and Chief Executive Officer of INCEIF University, presented on behalf of INCEIF University. Professor Dr. Firdaus Abdullah, the Dean of FBM, Mr. Mohd Hasnol Mohd Yunus, the Director of Corporate Affairs of INCEIF University, and the CEO of CIMB Islamic, Mr. Ahmad Shahriman Mohd Shariff also witnessed the signing.

This MOC has created a corner space, named ‘ISRA Corner’ provided at PTAR. International Shariʽah Research Academy (ISRA) is an Islamic finance research institution focusing on sharia-related issues in Malaysia. It was established on 26 March 2008 by the Central Bank Malaysia. FBM works closely with ISRA Research Management Centre, the research arm of INCEIF University, in providing basic and in-depth knowledge on Islamic finance, particularly Islamic banking.

Thus, the establishment of the ‘ISRA corner’ is timely because it provides the platform that allows the students to experience the simulations of becoming Islamic finance experts both in theory and practical. With this initiative, students from other faculties in UiTM will also benefit and give them exposure to Islamic finance.

This corner has been sponsored by CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad, a leading ASEAN universal banking institution, and one of the region’s foremost corporate advisors. It is also notable that CIMB is a world leader in Islamic finance. The MOC serves as a platform to explore new ways to expand the cooperative endeavor and spirit with INCEIF University and CIMB Bank to form a strong alliance for the benefit of UiTM.
