KUANTAN: A showcase of Malaysian and Indonesian cultures was held at the Raub UiTM campus recently, drawing a large audience.
The programme organised by the Administrative United Students Society, Administrative Science and Policy Studies Faculty and Raub UiTM corporate communications unit saw an array of performances such as Malay dance, songs by the Al-Falah student group and staff, gamelan and theatre.
Students from Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, also performed a cultural show that night.
Raub UiTM corporate coordinator Mohd Rozaimy Ridzuan said the programme was a mix of performance and entertainment that emphasised the cultures of the two countries.
“Nevertheless, recreational programmes such as this should also be held, not merely as entertainment but also as useful input for students on regional cultures,” he said.
Mohd Rozaimy, who served as programme adviser, added that such programmes could also train students in handling informal events that required technical skills to ensure it proceeded smoothly.
Also present at the event were assistant rector Dr Khairi Khalid, heads of studies centres, lecturers, administrative staff and Raub UiTM students.
