KTP #NoHelmetNoRide Boosts Helmet Safety Awareness at SMK Tun Tuah Melaka

In a commendable effort to enhance road safety awareness among students, the pioneering campaign titled #NoHelmetNoRide has taken root at SMK Tun Tuah Melaka. This initiative is orchestrated by a dynamic collaboration between a dedicated lecturer and a team of five
forward-thinking final-year BBA (Hons) Marketing students from UiTM Cawangan Melaka Kampus Bandaraya Melaka.

Recognizing the alarming trend of young students commuting without certified helmets or proper motorcycle licenses, #NoHelmetNoRide campaign under SoCCoM 4.0 umbrella, emerges as a beacon of hope in Malaysia’s road safety landscape. With the rising number of
accidents and fatalities, addressing this issue has become a pressing need.

Driven by the ethos of knowledge transfer, #NoHelmetNoRide aims to revolutionize attitudes, behaviours, and beliefs surrounding helmet usage among teenage commuters. The campaign, which spans from late November 2023 to January 12, 2024, is anchored in fostering a culture of safety consciousness.

The campaign unfolds through a strategic blend of engaging activities meticulously designed to captivate and educate. From interactive quizzes to immersive exploratory games facilitated by the UiTM team, and enlightening talks delivered by collaborators from the Malaysia Road Transport Department (JPJ), every facet of the initiative is geared towards igniting a transformative shift in perception.

Initial assessments indicate promising progress. Over 50% of targeted pupils have exhibited improved adherence to helmet usage protocols. Additionally, approximately 40% have embarked on the journey to obtain a legal motorcycle license. These statistics underscore the campaign’s efficacy in effecting tangible change.

At its core, #NoHelmetNoRide embodies a commitment to SDGs 3 of goof health and wellbeing and SDG 11 for sustainable cities and communities. By fostering road safety awareness, this campaign represents UiTM as a whole in contributing to better health outcomes for all and aligns with creating safer and more sustainable urban environments. In conclusion, #NoHelmetNoRide campaign serves as a vital step as UiTM’s contribution towards helping in ensuring the safety and well-being of Malaysia youth on the roads.
