KPPIM Hosts Transformative Workshop on Fluid Dynamics

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 December 2024 – A transformative three-day workshop focused on Fluid Dynamics was held at the Kolej Pengajian Pengkomputeran, Informatik dan Matematik (KPPIM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) held from 3rd to 8th December 2024. The event brought together dedicated researchers from KPPIM to explore and tackle complex fluid dynamics problems.

Led by esteemed experts Professor Dr. Siddheshwar and Dr. Lakshmi from Bangalore, India, the workshop provided participants with an in-depth exploration of advanced concepts through hands-on projects utilizing the Semi-Analytical Method and Maple software.

The workshop commenced with detailed derivations based on semi-analytical methods for solving initial boundary value problems. One of the most challenging aspects for participants was translating these theoretical derivations into programming code, particularly when implementing solutions in Maple. Researchers were divided into three teams: the Marangoni Team, the Boundary Value Problem Team, and the Vertical Channel Team, each tackling specific challenges related to fluid dynamics.

Participants faced various challenges while building their programs from scratch using Maple software. Dr. Lakshmi, who was new to Maple programming, played a crucial role in assisting teams with error correction and guiding them through the coding process. Her expertise proved invaluable as she worked diligently to ensure that the programs were functional and aligned with each team’s objectives.

On the second day, the workshop received a visit from key figures in KPPIM, including Prof. Dr. Haryani Haron, the Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Zia Al-Saufie, Head of the School of Mathematical Sciences, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Normi Abd Hadi, Coordinator of the Mathematics Department. They expressed their appreciation for the efforts of Professor Siddheshwar, Dr. Lakshmi, and the participating teams, recognizing the hard work and dedication displayed throughout the workshop.

By the end of the event, significant progress had been made across all teams, with participants equipped with accurate values and new concepts to apply to their projects. Despite the challenges faced, the teams advanced with renewed confidence.

The workshop concluded with heartfelt gratitude extended to Professor Dr. Siddheshwar and Dr. Lakshmi for their invaluable contributions. Professor Siddheshwar’s guidance kept the projects on track, while Dr. Lakshmi’s exceptional programming skills were critical in transforming theoretical concepts into functional solutions. The successful outcomes of the workshop have laid a solid foundation for future collaborations on more complex fluid dynamics challenges.
