August 26th 2024- A delegation from College of Computing, Informatics and Mathematics (KPPIM), comprising of 11 lecturers and 11 students from the School of Mathematical Sciences and School of Computing Sciences, arrived at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Lampung (UNILA), Indonesia for an academic visit. This visit, lead by the Head of Mathematical Sciences School, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Zia Ul-Saufie bin Mohamad Japeri, reflects the strong and growing relationship between KPPIM and UNILA, further solidified by an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and UNILA. The outbound mobility program is scheduled to take place from August 26th, 2024 to September 9th, 2024.
The visit began with a warm welcome from the FMIPA administration, including a meeting with the Dean of FMIPA UNILA, Dr. Eng. Heri Satria, M.Si., followed by an in-depth campus tour. The main objectives of this visit are to strengthen academic and research collaborations and to exchange ideas. Additionally, the visit aims to explore opportunities for joint research initiatives, co-authorship of academic publications, and collaborative supervision of postgraduate students. Through these collaborative efforts, both institutions aim to enhance the quality and impact of their research outputs, while providing students and lecturers with valuable international exposure and experience. This aligns with the shared vision of KPPIM and UNILA to contribute to the global academic community through innovative and impactful research.
On August 27th and 28th, the academic visit centered on presentations from both students and lecturers from KPPIM and UNILA, highlighting their research areas and interests. These presentations aimed to identify potential collaborative research opportunities with UNILA, laying the groundwork for future joint initiatives between the two institutions.
This event will continue with a series of engaging activities until September 9th, including lab training workshop, sit-in class sessions, cultural exchange, and community outreach program STEM at local schools (SMA Al-Kautsar, SMKN 2 and SMA YP UNILA). This visit not only facilitated knowledge exchange but also strengthened the commitment of both institutions to advancing academic excellence and research innovation. The successful collaboration highlights the crucial role of international partnerships in higher education, benefiting both students and faculty. This activity also supports the aspirations of the fourth and eleventh Sustainable Development Goals, which are quality education and sustainable cities and communities. It is also in line with the vision of Malaysia Madani.
