Kimia Invensi dan Inovasi Malaysia (KI2M) 2022

PERMATANG PAUH – Kimia Invensi dan Inovasi Malaysia (KI2M) 2022 was successfully organised by Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Pulau Pinang in collaboration with Institut Kimia Malaysia and Jabatan Kimia Malaysia on May 25, 2022. The program’s theme is “Chemistry is Intrinsic to a High Quality of Life”.

The objectives of KI2M are:
i) to create a platform for showcase of innovations, inventions and designs produced by academicians, professionals, personnel of governmental or private institutions, students from primary school up to universities,
ii) to steer not only academic excellence but also to nurture creative & innovative culture in the nation (Keluarga Malaysia),
iii) to create awareness and encourage experts/scholars particularly those in institutions of higher learning to embark on product-oriented research.

KI2M encompasses a wide range of projects and products in the fields of chemical, physical, biological, medical, and engineering, with an emphasis on any relevant field of chemistry that can be provided through a concise written description, oral-video presentation, demonstration, or exhibition.

The announcements of KI2M began in January 2022, with overwhelming support from the Ministry of Education and all state education departments. For judging requirements, participants must submit an extended abstract as well as a video demonstrating their project. Only 140 extended abstracts and 123 videos were received before the deadline for KI2M 2022, despite the fact that 182 projects were registered. Three professional judges evaluated each project. There were 130 judges involved in this inaugural event.

The launching of KI2.M 2022 and awards winner announcement were conducted virtually at 3.00 pm on 25th May 2022. KI2M was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Dr Adham Baba, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. The welcoming speech were given by Dato’ ChM Dr Mas Rosemal Hakim Mas Haris as the Chairman of Kimia Invensi dan Inovasi Malaysia, and Datuk ChM Dr Soon Ting Kueh, the President of Institute Kimia Malaysia. The award winners were announced by KI2M Program Director, Assoc. Prof. ChM Dr Nor Aziyah Bakhari.
