Kota Samarahan, 11 October 2024– A major international webinar focusing on financial inclusion and sustainability brought together academics and students from Malaysia and Indonesia last Friday, marking a significant step in cross-border educational collaboration.
The Faculty of Accountancy from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak hosted the International Academic Webinar 2024, partnering with three Indonesian institutions: Universitas Sebelas Maret, Universitas Insan Pembangunan Indonesia, and Politeknik Harapan Bersama.
Associate Professor Dr. Juperi Idris, representing UiTM Sarawak’s Rector, opened the event which featured five research presentations on financial inclusion and sustainability. The webinar attracted 249 participants from all four universities.
“This collaboration strengthens our commitment to supporting the SDG agenda while creating opportunities for future research partnerships,” said Dr. Susan Hydra Sikayu, Head of Program at the Faculty of Accountancy UiTM Sarawak, who closed the proceedings.
The event also served as a platform to promote an upcoming SDG No. 13 Pitching Video Competition, scheduled to conclude in January 2025. Organizers briefed students on competition rules and requirements during the session.
Beyond knowledge sharing, the webinar aimed to enhance research collaboration between Malaysian and Indonesian academics while showcasing UiTM scholars’ expertise in sustainability studies. University officials expressed hope for continued international collaboration in future initiatives.
