INTENSIVE BOOTCAMP FOR EFFECTIVE RESEARCH PROPOSALS

SHAH ALAM, 21st June 2023 – Akademi Pendidikan Bahasa (APB) Postgraduate Centre at Shah Alam main campus successfully organized a series of Proposal Writing Bootcamps on the 9th, 16th, and 23rd June 2023. These intensive sessions aimed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge for writing research proposals effectively. The bootcamp was expertly facilitated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faizah Mohamad, a senior lecturer at APB, UiTM Shah Alam. Participants included APB postgraduate students from Shah Alam, as well as branch campuses in Penang, Melaka, Dungun, and Perlis.

The first session, held on the 9th of June, focused on introducing students to fundamental concepts such as problem statements, research objectives, and research questions. By providing a comprehensive overview of these elements, students gained a solid foundation for crafting their research proposals. The second session, which took place on the 16th of June, emphasized the importance of Literature Review writing. Participants learned how to effectively review existing literature to identify research gaps and situate their proposed research within the existing knowledge framework. The third session, which took place on June 23rd, emphasized research methodology and how to write Chapter 3 in a thesis. Participants learned about quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research design, sampling techniques, research procedures, research instruments, data analysis, and the issue of data generalization.

On the 23rd of June, the final session of the bootcamp delved into research methodology. Students received in-depth guidance on selecting appropriate research methods, data collection techniques, and data analysis strategies. This session equipped them with the necessary tools to design robust research methodologies for their proposals.

The Proposal Writing Bootcamp received overwhelmingly positive feedback from APB postgraduate students. Many participants expressed their appreciation for the comprehensive and engaging sessions, stating that the bootcamp significantly enhanced their understanding of writing effective research proposals. The interactive nature of the sessions, coupled with the expertise of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faizah Mohamad, contributed to a highly impactful learning experience.
