June 22, 2024 – A group of students from the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies (FSPPP), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), organized a meaningful volunteer program titled “Empowering Orphans” at Rumah Bakti Nur Ain in Bangi, Selangor. This initiative, part of their ADM410 course, aimed to raise awareness about education, health, and essential skills among orphaned children while introducing them to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Led by Program Director Muhammad Iqbal Tasyriq bin Jamaluddin, under the guidance of Program Advisor Dr. Farah Adila binti Ab Rahman, the program engaged a total of 62 students (20 male and 42 female) in a series of activities designed to foster relationships between the university and the local community. Activities such as ice-breaking sessions, aerobics, treasure hunts, and gotong-royong (communal work) were organized to promote teamwork, critical thinking, and social responsibility among the children.
The impact of the program was evident in the positive feedback from participants, who highlighted the enhancement of their communication and leadership skills. The program also raised awareness about the importance of education and skill development from a young age, aligning with the SDG agenda.
This initiative strengthened the bond between UiTM and the community and demonstrated the university’s commitment to social responsibility and community development. The “Empowering Orphans” program serves as a testament to UiTM students’ dedication to positively impacting society.
