Lecturers from Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia delivered guest lectures during their recent collaboration visit to Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Semarang Indonesia (UNNESS) from 4th to 8th November, 2019.
The entourage was led by Dr Norol Hamiza (Director, Community of Research for Management Sciences, UiTM) accompanied by Dr Amirul Afif Muhamat (Head, Department of Postgraduate and Professional Studies, FBM), Dr Muhammad Hafiz Abd Rashid (Postgraduate Research Coordinator, FBM) and five senior lecturers from the faculty. The program was officiated by Prof Dr Zaenuri, Deputy Rector of Academic and Dr Heri Yanto, Dean for Faculty of Economics.
Both Prof Zaenuri and Dr Heri Yanto believed that this cooperation will benefit both institutions to achieve their strategic objectives in terms of research collaboration, students’ mobility, academic staff exchange and potential on curriculum mapping. Moreover, this is also parallel with the aspiration of FBM to become a visionary and highly reputable institution internationally.
Besides guest lectures for undergraduate students, researchers from both institutions had discussions pertaining to their research projects funded by UiTM LESTARI-Semarang Research Grant Scheme. To create a better networking link and potential research collaboration at postgraduate level, meeting was held between FBM postgraduate administrators and UNNES postgraduate representatives.
“The low-hanging fruit seems to be the academic staff exchange program which is expected to commence in the near future, if all procedures are met” said Dr Amirul Afif, Head of Department and Postgraduate Studies for FBM.
Overall, this academic visit has produced the desired outcomes for both institutions and more strategic initiatives are expected to be planned and executed soon.
