Penang, July 4, 2024 – A total of 30 students and five faculty members from the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Pulau Pinang, were invited to participate in the “Exploring Sunway Sanctuary: A Journey into Hospitality” program that was held from 26 and 27 June 2024 at Sunway Sanctuary Kuala Lumpur. This program aims to introduce hospitality students to the new hospitality wellness sector by Sunway Healthcare Group. This program is also conducted as one of the MoU activities between UiTM and Sunway Group.

 

On the first day, the students joined the Sunway Resort Hotel tour, a five-star renowned hotel, and they were thrilled to see the Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill Restaurant in the hotel. After that, the Human Resource Training Manager of Sunway Resort Hotel introduced and briefed the students about the hotel and the departments within the hotel.

 

The next day, the students were introduced to Sunway Sanctuary by the Sunway Healthcare Group, led by the General Manager, Mr. Leonard Theng. Other activities include a motivational talk by a certified counsellor and a showcase of each department within Sunway Sanctuary (e.g., sales and marketing, recreation and leisure, wellness, and post-natal services). Afterwards, the students participated in various interactive, hands-on activities with the kitchen, food service, guest services, and housekeeping. All hospitality students were pleased with their overall experience throughout the program. Several students shared their interest in doing an internship at Sunway Sanctuary.
