Educational Excellence in Focus: UiTM Executive Teams Engage with Sarawak Governor

UiTM Kota Samarahan, 22 August 2024 – On Wednesday, 3rd July 2024, the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, graciously received a courtesy visit from the Executive Management team of UiTM Sarawak. Accompanying them were representatives from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)’s primary campuses in Shah Alam and Puncak Alam.

The delegation, led by Pro-Chancellor Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz, aimed to introduce the senior management team and provide the governor with updates on the latest initiatives within UiTM’s academic programmes. During the meeting, Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr. Raduan Che Rose, Chairman of the UiTM Board of Directors, reaffirmed UiTM’s commitment to expanding access to higher education for the people of Sarawak. In addition, UiTM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Shahrin Sahibuddin, underscored the significance of the Institute of Continuing Education and Profesional Studies (iCEPS) programme, which facilitates distance learning opportunities for both students and working professionals pursuing master’s and PhD qualifications.

UiTM is currently undertaking significant developments across its three Sarawak campuses, involving nearly 400 academic staff, over 800 lecturers and instructors, and approximately 7,800 students. The university remains steadfast in its mission to enhance the quality of education, aiming to produce graduates who are highly competitive in the job market. Several senior UiTM officials were also present during this important visit.

This engagement marks a pivotal step in UiTM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its educational infrastructure in Sarawak. In the short term, the focus on enhancing academic programmes and facilities is expected to provide immediate benefits to current students, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in an increasingly competitive job market.
