The Research and Innovation Unit, Faculty of Business and Management (FBM), UiTM recently organized two data analysis workshops. The main objectives of this initiative are to improve the research and supervision capabilities among academics as well as to intensify research and publication activities among academics.
The Comprehensive SPSS workshop was conducted on 11th and 12th April 2019, while the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) using SMART-PLS workshop was held on 17th and 18th April 2019 at PTAR UiTM Puncak Alam. Professor Ramayah Thurasamy, from Universiti Sains Malaysia, a distinguished speaker and an expert in SPSS and PLS-SEM was invited to facilitate the workshop.
Both workshops received overwhelming participation with around 40 academics and postgraduate students. The majority of the academicians for both the workshops were from the Economics and Finance Department. Among the highlights of the workshop was the introduction of SMART-PLS version 3.2.8, new SEM-PLS reporting requirements and tips on how to publish good papers using PLS-SEM analysis.
For secondary data analysis, The Department of Economics, Finance and Islamic Banking study, FBM organized a Panel Data Analysis using STATA Workshop on 19th and 20th June 2019 at AV Room, FSK 6. This interesting workshop was conducted by Professor Dr. Lau Siong Hook from Universiti Putra Malaysia. The aim of this workshop is to prepare participants to do data analysis using panel data model which has many estimation models and which is suitable for finance and economics research.
The workshop was very effective to the lecturers as both theory and practical hands-on sessions were done. There were about 40 enthusiastic participants who attended the workshop which consisted mainly of academics and students from the Finance and Economics Department and a few from the Entrepreneurship Department and Faculty of Sport Science.
