Shah Alam, January 11, 2025 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)’s College of Computing, Informatics, and Mathematics (KPPIM) successfully hosted Cybersecurity Day 2025, bringing together students, industry experts, and academics to address the evolving challenges and opportunities in the cybersecurity landscape.
A key highlight was a panel discussion featuring experts from Securelytics Sdn Bhd, Bluesify, and the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA). The panel, which included Ms. Maizatul Khairani Mohamad (NACSA), Mr. Syahmi Suleiman (Bluesify), and Mr. Ahmad Zuraimi Mohamad (Cybersecurity Strategy Expert), explored the convergence of IT and Operational Technology (OT) and discussed strategies for effective cyber risk mitigation.
Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Atiqah Sia Abdullah, Dean of Industry, Community, and Alumni at KPPIM, stressed the critical importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital world. She highlighted the need to equip graduates with the skills necessary to navigate this complex landscape, reflecting UiTM’s commitment to producing adaptable and innovative graduates.
The event also featured workshops and seminars designed to enhance student understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices. Experts from CyberSecurity Malaysia, including Dr. Abdul Alif Zakaria and Mr. Suhairi Mohd Jawi, provided valuable insights into cryptography.
A specialized seminar on January 12th focused on Cyber Law Practice in Malaysia and included a Cybercourt Simulation. Leading legal and cybersecurity professionals, including Puan Faten Hadni Kharuddin (MCMC) and Ts. Badri Bin Azni (Digital Forensic Specialist), provided in-depth analysis of digital law, expert testimony, and ethical considerations in digital investigations. The Cybercourt Simulation offered students a practical application of the legal concepts discussed.
Cybersecurity Day 2025 underscored UiTM’s commitment to developing a highly skilled cybersecurity workforce. The collaboration between academia, industry, and government directly supports the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
