𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐫, 𝟏𝟓 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 – The fruitful outcome of the “Workshop on Technical Document Alignment (Road Safety) TC08” organized by the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Road Engineering Association Malaysia (REAM) marked an important step forward in improving road safety. The workshop, which took place from May 13 until 15, 2024, at Dewan Anggerik in PWD Selangor, aimed to provide assistant engineers and implementation staff with the tools they needed to conduct thorough road safety inspections in their respective areas.
The primary goal of the workshop was to create comprehensive technical documents that would be used as guidelines for road safety inspections. This initiative is part of a larger effort to make the process of applying for funding to address road safety issues more efficient and transparent.
𝐓𝐬. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐝𝐢 𝐛𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐢 from the School of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA was a key contributor to the workshop. Dr. Rusdi’s expertise was significant in the development of these critical documents, which will be presented to the REAM executive committee at the upcoming 12th Malaysian Road Conference & Exhibition 2024, which will take place from November 5th to November 7th, 2024.
The workshop brought together a variety of stakeholders from the engineering and road safety communities, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing. The participants took part in intensive sessions that covered all aspects of road safety inspections, from identifying potential hazards to implementing corrective actions.
Dr. Rusdi emphasized the importance of the workshop, saying, “This initiative is a critical step toward improving road safety standards across the country. By providing clear and detailed guidelines, we enable our engineers and staff to perform their duties more effectively, resulting in safer roads for everyone.
The collaboration between PWD and REAM demonstrates Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to road safety, with the workshop serving as a forum for continuous improvement and innovation in road safety practices.
