4 July 2024 – The Collaborative Teaching: My Cost Statement 2.0 (CT MyCS 2.0) program was successfully organized by five Accounting lecturers led by Dr Jasmine David. 240 diploma students from the faculties of Business Management, Administrative Science & Policy Studies and Plantation and Agrotechnology participated in the program.
The CT MyCS 2.0 Program was intended to fulfill the requirement of the syllabus and collaborative learning of the ACC116 Introduction to Cost Accounting subject. In addition, this program assessed students’ intrapersonal and interpersonal skills in solving problems related to Cost Accounting. This program also allowed lecturers and students to collaborate with industries, especially for small and medium businesses (SMEs) around Sabah.
Through this program, students had the opportunity to interact with SME businesses. They learned and exchanged information indirectly with business owners in preparing Product Cost Statements for two products in the chosen business through the interaction.
A jury panel consisting of 13 lecturers were involved in evaluating the Cost Statements of 54 groups of students. The lecturers were from the Faculty of Accounting, Faculty of Business Management and Faculty of Administrative Science & Policy Studies. To appreciate the students’ efforts and motivate them, prizes were given to the groups that obtained the five highest marks.
Based on program evaluation, CT MyCS 2.0 has successfully achieved the outlined objectives. The success of organizing this program was due to the support and cooperation of all parties involved, either directly or indirectly. It is hoped that this program will be continued in the future.
