Pahang, 18th December 2024 – Over 130 diploma students enhanced their argumentative writing skills during a specialized webinar hosted by UiTM Pahang’s Academy of Language Studies (APB), featuring expertise from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
The two-hour virtual workshop, held last Friday via Google Meet, was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Farrah Diebaa Rashid Ali from IIUM, who shared advanced techniques for crafting persuasive academic essays.
“The webinar focuses on equipping our third-semester students with essential writing strategies needed for their LCC113 course assignments,” said Dr. Evanna Devi, Senior Lecturer at APB UiTM Jengka, who moderated the session.
The program, which drew 133 participants, is part of APB Pahang’s broader initiative supporting the Collaborative Teaching and Global Learning program for the English for Communicative Competence III course. It also aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 4 for Quality Education.
Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with participants reporting significant improvements in their understanding of academic writing principles. The success has prompted organizers to consider similar workshops in the future.
“These sessions provide our students with valuable external perspectives and expertise that enhance their learning experience,” added Dr. Evanna. The webinar specifically targeted skills needed for argumentative essay writing, a key component of university-level academic performance.
