20th August 2024, UiTM Sarawak – The Sarawak chapter of the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Alumni Association, known as MITSA, has been actively involved in enhancing community development initiatives across the state. To date, MITSA’s shows significant contributions and initiatives aimed at fostering societal welfare and youth development in Sarawak.
Dato’ Sri Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, has spearheaded various programs focusing on human capital development. “As UiTM alumni, I am proud of MITSA’s achievements as a proactive alumni association organizing human capital development programs through mentoring and motivational sessions for secondary schools in Sarawak,” Dato’ Sri Nancy stated during the 16th Biennial General Meeting of MITSA held at a local hotel on 9th June 2024. Such efforts aim to empower and inspire the next generation of leaders among the youth population.
During the 16th Biennial General Meeting held recently in Kuching, Dato’ Sri Nancy commended MITSA for its proactive approach in addressing community needs. She emphasized MITSA’s role in supporting the education sector by providing essential resources such as calculators to secondary school students and distributing tablets to underprivileged families under the B40 category.
Moreover, MITSA has actively engaged in community service initiatives, particularly during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The association extended support by donating food supplies to UiTM Sarawak students and distributing food baskets to vulnerable groups. These efforts reflect MITSA’s commitment to alleviating societal challenges and contributing positively to community welfare.
Looking ahead, MITSA President Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz expressed optimism regarding the continued engagement of alumni in supporting MITSA’s initiatives. He emphasized the importance of alumni contributions in the form of financial support, expertise sharing, and volunteering efforts to further enhance MITSA’s impact on community development in Sarawak.
