Big Win for the Faculty of Education at the Invention, Innovation and Design Exposition (IIDEX) 2019

Coming back with medals in their hands, the 15 teams representing the Faculty of Education at the Invention, Innovation and Design Exposition (IIDEX) 2019 were all smiles. The teams swept 4 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze awards with one team announced as the recipient of the distinguished Diamond Award (Innovation) Staff.

IIDEX 2019 had the highest number of exhibitors with more than 600 teams showcasing wide range of research-based innovations, inventions, prototypes and designs. Held from 10-15 September 2019 at the Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), IIDEX 2019 aimed to increase institutional visibility in research and innovation-related activities as well as to promote potential products for commercialization.

Malaysia Cakna Hal OKU Kit (My-CHO Kit) was reigned the winner of the Diamond Award (Innovation) Staff. The teaching aid is the product of collaboration between five institutions: Ts. Dr. Roslinda Alias, Prof. Dr. Nor Aziah Alias and Raiha Shahanaz Redzuan from the Faculty of Education, UiTM; Dr. Saipolbarin Ramli of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI); Azwani Mokhtar from the Malaysian Society for Occupational, Safety and Health (MSOSH); Nuzha Mohd Taha of UNITAR; and a special collaboration with Omar K. of the WorldPeace Entertainment.

My-CHO Kit was developed to provide early exposure and instill awareness among preschoolers towards various forms of physical disabilities and persons with disabilities (PWDs). These are achieved through direct and indirect experiences with people, objects and events.
