Arau, October 6, 2021 – The Deputy Rector of Division of Research, Industry, Community, Alumni, Entrepreneurship and Network (RICAEN), Universiti Teknologi MARA Perlis Branch, Associate Professor Dr Shukor Sanim Mohd Fauzi was appointed as a guest speaker at Temple University, Philadelphia, USA. Temple University is a public state-related research university which was founded in 1884. At present, the university houses 17 schools and college including Fox School of Business, College of Science and Technology, School of Education and Human Development, School of Podiatric Medicine, School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management and Boyer College of Music and Dance.
Dr Shukor Sanim who is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences honoured the invitation as a guest speaker for the 2021 Fall Colloquium. The online colloquium was organised by the Computer and Sciences Department, College of Science and Technology, Temple University.
At the event, Associate Professor Dr Shukor Sanim, whose expertise includes software engineering, empirical software engineering, mining software repository, and software process delivered a lecture titled ‘Mining Software Repository to Investigate Socio-Technical Congruence in Software Engineering Projects’. During the lecture, he discussed with audience the basic concepts of Socio-Technical Congruence (STC) and the impact of STC in software engineering projects. STC is one of the approaches to conceptualise and measure coordination in software development. Recent literature posits that STC is a useful predictor of development task performance in software projects.
The one-hour lecture was not only attended by academics and students of the university, but it also captured the interest of researchers and members of the public who were interested in the latest development in software engineering. Also present at the event was the Director of the Center for Networked Computing, College of Science and Technology, Temple University, Professor Dr Jie Wu. At the end of the event, Associate Professor Shukor Sanim and Professor Dr Jie Wu discussed future directions for research and collaboration between Universiti Teknologi MARA and Temple University.
Associate Professor Dr Shukor Sanim obtained his Ph.D in software engineering from University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. He has received several recognitions from local and international institutions including Anugerah Tokoh Berpotensi 2020, Anugerah Jaringan Antarabangsa 2020, Anugerah Penerbitan Jurnal Berindeks 2020, and Anugerah Penulis Prolifik (Sains dan Teknologi) 2020. Associate Professor Dr Shukor Sanim is the newly-appointed Rector of UiTM Perlis, succeeding Professor Dr Haji Khudzir Haji Ismail who ended his service as Rector on November 22, 2021.
