UiTMCPP and PETRONAS Chemicals Foster Technical Excellence Through Altair Simulation Training

Pulau Pinang, 15 May 2025 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Pulau Pinang, through its Creative and Innovation Research Group in Automotive and Aviation (CIRAA), Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, has successfully concluded a specialized industrial training programme titled “Getting Started with FEA & CFD: Fundamentals and Application Using Altair SimLab.” The programme was conducted in collaboration with PETRONAS Chemicals Fertiliser Kedah Sdn. Bhd. (PCFKSB) from 13 to 15 May 2025.

This three-day initiative was designed to upskill technical personnel in the application of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Fluid-Structure Interaction using Altair SimLab—an industry-grade simulation tool. A total of 12 engineers from PCFKSB participated in the immersive training, which combined technical instruction with practical, case-based learning.

Training commenced with two days of sessions held at UiTMCPP’s state-of-the-art computer laboratories, followed by a final day conducted on-site at PCFKSB in Kedah. Participants were guided through structural and thermal analysis workflows, fluid flow modelling, and the integration of FEA-CFD processes using post-processing tools and real-world scenarios.

This training reflects the growing emphasis on high-impact university-industry partnerships and demonstrates UiTMCPP’s continued commitment to providing industry-relevant knowledge transfer. The programme also affirms PETRONAS Chemicals’ ongoing dedication to engineering excellence and technical innovation within Malaysia’s industrial landscape.

UiTMCPP and PCFKSB envision continued collaboration in upskilling initiatives that empower professionals to harness advanced engineering technologies for real-world applications.
