SHAH ALAM, December 12, 2024—Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has steadily risen in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, securing the 107th position globally and 6th among Malaysian institutions in 2024. This achievement reflects UiTM’s ongoing dedication to sustainability since joining the rankings in 2019, marking six consecutive years of improvement.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings assess universities worldwide on sustainability efforts based on six key criteria: Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education and Research. This year, UiTM excelled in the Waste Management and Education and Research categories, earning perfect scores that significantly contributed to its performance.
The 2024 rankings saw participation from 1477 universities globally, an increase of 293 institutions compared to the previous year. In Malaysia, 17 additional institutions joined, totalling 60 institutions. UiTM’s 6th place ranking among its peers in Malaysia underscores its position as a leading institution in driving sustainability initiatives at the national level.
