Pulau Pinang, 11 September 2024 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Pulau Pinang hosted the prestigious UiTM Penang-Altair Technology Day 2024 and officially launched the Altair Certified Lab. The event, held at Bilik Perdana 1, brought together 50 participants, including UiTM Penang Rector, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Haji Ahmad Rashidy Bin Razali, College of Engineering lecturers, and representatives from Altair Engineering Sdn Bhd and ORS Technologies Sdn Bhd.
The program featured an engaging lineup of activities, including technical sharing sessions on Altair simulation, insightful presentations, and a comprehensive case study demonstration utilizing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). A highlight of the event was the launch of the Altair Certified Lab, symbolizing UiTM’s commitment to advancing engineering education and research.
Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Haji Ahmad Rashidy Bin Razali delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of simulation technologies in modern engineering. The event concluded with a lab visit and networking lunch, providing participants with an opportunity to experience the lab’s cutting-edge capabilities firsthand.
In a parallel achievement, 19 lecturers completed intensive training on Altair HyperWorks software, earning certifications as Certified Trainers. Additionally, five lecturers were awarded the Professional Simulation Engineer (PSE) certification from NAFEMS UK, while another five embarked on a PSE mentor-mentee program.
In a significant academic milestone, three courses from the CEEM243 program have been officially endorsed by Altair and ORS. Students completing these courses will receive a Certificate of Competency in Computer Aided Industrial Design (CAID), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). This collaboration reinforces UiTM Penang’s position as a leader in engineering education, equipping students and faculty with cutting-edge tools and industry-relevant skills.
