Industry Day @UiTM Shah Alam

7 November 2024 – The Office of Industry, Community, and Alumni Network (ICAN), in collaboration with Bahagian Hubungan Industri (BHI) KPT and the College of Engineering UiTM, successfully hosted Industry Day 2024 at UiTM Shah Alam on 25 October 2024. Officiated by Datuk Professor Dr. Azlinda Azman, Director General of Higher Education at KPT, this event brought together prominent industry leaders and UiTM students in a comprehensive program to align academic training with the demands of today’s job market.

This collaborative initiative featured 21 industry-led masterclasses, a career fair, and personalized 1:1 career coaching, showcasing the strength of industry-academia partnerships in fostering job-ready, highly skilled graduates. Leading companies, including Petronas, ExxonMobil, CelcomDigi, Bank Islam, OCBC Al-Amin, Malaysia Airlines Group (MAG), Talentbank, and KPJ Healthcare, delivered focused masterclasses offering students hands-on learning and valuable insights into industry expectations.

Industry Day 2024 gave students a unique opportunity to engage directly with top industry professionals and gain practical knowledge relevant to specific industry demands. These tailored sessions helped students build the skills necessary for the job market, enhancing their readiness for career success.

The event’s career fair and 1:1 career coaching sessions highlighted UiTM’s dedication to a student-centered approach to career readiness. Students received guidance on resume development, career mapping, and interview techniques from experienced industry coaches, equipping them to enter the workforce confidently with a clear understanding of professional expectations.

For participating companies, Industry Day 2024 provided more than brand visibility and networking opportunities; it offered rare insights into emerging talent motivations and expectations. By interacting with students, industry leaders could tailor recruitment strategies and connect with a pre-vetted talent pool, streamlining the hiring process with job-ready candidates.

Reflecting the KPT Main Focus of Provision of the Nation’s Best Talent (Penyediaan Bakat Terbaik Negara), Industry Day 2024 emphasizes a collaborative approach to workforce readiness, preparing a skilled talent pipeline that supports Malaysia’s economic development and industrial growth.

As Malaysia’s job landscape diversifies and specializes, UiTM’s collaborative initiatives ensure students are not only prepared to enter the workforce but are also positioned to make significant contributions to the economy. This initiative stands as a model for educational institutions and industry stakeholders alike, demonstrating that when academia and industry join forces, the entire economy benefits.
